Only boring people get bored.

I wonder ( a lot) if I'm boring to others. I certainly FEEL boring in most social situations because I can't reall get into any sort of conversation with a stranger. Then again, maybe they're the ones that are boring. I don't think Jenny, Jess or Priscilla find me boring, so there's hope yet.

My 10 year high school reunion is tomorrow. I have nothing to wear, and body wise, I feel like a wildabeast (or some fat animal). I am SO looking forward to going, and I'm so excited to see all of the hard work that the planners put into this come to life. I can't wait to see and be seen. Now I wonder if I will talk and be talked (to). Good thing Jenny is my date. We'll have fun, no matter what. Let's think of good conversation starters:

1) "My, you've certainly done more for yourself than any of us expected!"

Probably not that one.

2) "Hey, what's up? Dave Matthews knows my name. Who? Oh, he sang that crash song....they tour all the ti....nevermind."

Nope.

3) "I almost got married, but I left him at the altar."

That one is just a lie, but could make for some fun embellishing.

This reunion has, as reunions do, led me to ask myself what I have done so far. I don't have a degree, which actually doesn't bother me as much as you would think. I haven't left the country, but I HAVE been all over the US. I don't know what I'm really good at, and I don't know what value I've added to the world. Oh wait! I did teach 24 children how to read. That is pretty great. I do normal things like walk my dogs, make dinner for my mom and I, try to help friends out when possible. I guess I'm worried that I don't have a million things to say about any of that. I. Don't. Know. We'll see what happens tomorrow!

PS- reading about the upcoming marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton has made me feel decidedly uncivilized. Maybe I should get a fancy hat to wear to the reunion.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. This was our day:

Mom and I looking fabulous in our kitchen.

Family outside next to our urban fire pit.

Cousins:

Aunt Darlene getting ready for battle:
Uncle Mike carving the bird, hopeful doggies never giving up:

My little cousin came up to me with this Barbie. Seems she was less than perfect, due to a hole chewed in her head by a formerly living dog of mine. She was deemed unacceptable to to live in the Barbie bin.
She found other things to do.

Me, Aunt Cindi and Grandma

Aunt Nancye and her daughter, Tara
 Uncle Johnny!

And, of course, dessert:

I can now focus on going nuts for the entire month of December. I'm happy to celebrate the holidays, and in fact, was nearly ecstatic to have my family over yesterday.

I went out to only one store this morning for shopping, and it was because they were giving out 100 scratch cards that gave you the chance to win $10,000. A pretty good reason to get out of bed after a Nyquil night. This scratchy throat and sneezing ain't going to be the reason I don't win $10,000! I didn't win because that was not the prize on my scratcher. Still, I am up and at them. Now, to start saving up for a better camera!

Thanksgiving decor

Hey, you! Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Me, too! Here are a couple photos.

I have a few minutes before I leave for work, but first: did you notice my new background? Notice the map in the upper corners? That's because I'm well traveled. I want you all to believe that.

Speaking of travel, I'm going to Las Vegas again in like 17 days (oh jeez, need to book my flight!). Guess why. Answer below.

----------------------------------------------------

Last night I went out to dinner with my friends. You may know them. Jenny, Jess and Erin. Ethan was also in attendance. Here is a picture of Jenny and I, which was the only one that wasn't too dark to post.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm pretty excited about going to work.

A lot of the time I come here with the intention of writing, and then you know what happens? I read other people's blogs until it is time for me to get to one of my many important appointments. I never say a word. Today will be different.
 -------------------------
My family will start to trickle in on Wednesday for the big turkey extravaganza, and I am just pleased as can be about this. My mother has invited over 40 people, and is subsequently worried about where to seat them. We had decided on long tables out back with heat lamps (sounded good to me), but mama Margie is getting antsy about that. I don't take her ants too seriously, though. The outdoor seating with heat lamps will be juuuuust fine. If people don't like it, I'll send them around the corner to the Macias household.

The end.

Cry To Me

Remember this song from Dirty Dancing? When she goes to his cabin and they sexy-dance?

If you don't remember, here it is:

And remember the other day, when I sat in my bathroom and sang that song alone?  If you don't, here's a video of that:

I know I'm no Patrick Swayze, but cut me some slack.

How do you make your dollars?

I've been working for about 6 weeks at The Caravan. This is the Caravan:

What's that? It doesn't look like much? You must not have seen our spoooooky Halloween decor!

Now you know.

I did the decorating. Don't hate. There was more, but I did not photograph it. Shucks.

I have also been working for a company called Veebeam. They sell what is basically a wireless HDMI cable. Anything you see on your computer (if you have a Mac, Windows7 or Windows Vista) can be wirelessly streamed to your TV screen. Very affordable and convenient. You can check their product out here.
